England face Ukraine in crunch Group H clash

England's World Cup qualification campaign enters a critical stage as they take on Ukraine in a battle for control of Group H.
Roy Hodgson's men are currently in pole position to progress automatically to next summer's tournament in Brazil but it has been hard work from the start and there is still everything to play for.
The Three Lions are level on points with Montenegro at the top of the group but have a game in hand and it is Ukraine, a point further back, who have emerged as the most dangerous challengers following a fine run of form under Mykhaylo Fomenko.
Tricky home games against Montenegro and Poland lie ahead for England next month but they must first negotiate a formidable test in Kiev which Hodgson admits is 'like a cup final'.
Defeat would leave England needing Ukraine to slip up but a victory or even a draw would keep them in control of their own destiny and Hodgson is taking inspiration from a goalless night in Italy in 1997 which saw the team through to the World Cup.

He said: "There are parallels. But we stuck together, dug ourselves in to get a good result and if we can do something similar I'll be as happy as I was leaving the Olympic Stadium in Rome that evening."
England required a late penalty from Frank Lampard to salvage 1-1 draw against Ukraine at Wembley and the Chelsea midfielder will make his 100th international appearance in the return fixture.
Hodgson can also take encouragement from a 1-0 victory over Ukraine in the group phase of Euro 2012, before they bowed out of the competition at Kiev's Olympic Stadium following a defeat by Italy on penalties.

Preparations for the latest trip to Kiev have not been helped by injuries to players such as Wayne Rooney and Daniel Sturridge, while Danny Welbeck is also suspended after picking up a yellow card in Friday's 4-0 victory over Moldova.
Kyle Walker, meanwhile, has had to apologise after photographs emerged over the weekend of him taking the 'legal high' nitrous oxide, although Hodgson has confirmed the Tottenham Hotspur right-back will keep his place.

While England were sharpening up for tougher games ahead with a comfortable win against Moldova, Ukraine were even more emphatic in a 9-0 demolition of San Marino on Friday.
That result made it four wins out of four for Ukraine since Fomenko took charge, and the coach is desperate to keep the run going.
Asked if Tuesday's game was the biggest match of his life, he replied: "Not only of mine. Because with victory, this match gives us the possibility to achieve our objectives."
Ukraine will be at home to Poland in their next game before finishing their qualifying campaign with a journey to San Marino.

From the last six meetings between these two sides at the Mestalla, the hosts have only lost one match, but have also not won any. The other five matches ended in a draw, but at least that will give Los Che some extra motivation heading into Sunday's match.
After claiming his first piece of silverware since his arrival at the Nou Camp, Gerardo Martino knows that Miroslav Djukic's side will want to claim the full three points.
"As the home side, Valencia have to go for the win," Martino said at his pre-match press conference.
"I'm in no doubt about that. What we do is imagine what might happen and then see if there are alternatives."
Barcelona's run up until this match has sent mixed signals, but the Blaugrana are always a threat regardless of their previous performance.
Their 7-1 victory over Levante in the opening match had fans and neutrals impressed, and curious as to if Martino had re-lit the flame that appeared to be missing last season. They followed that victory up with a tight victory over Malaga, while the also struggled for most parts of the match at the Vicente Calderon against Atletico Madrid.
This Barcelona squad is clearly in a phase of finding its identity under Martino, and at this early stage of the season, they may be vulnerable.
Whether that vulnerability comes from getting adapted to a new style, or the lack of Barcelona's reinforcement of their back four, anything is possible.
Playing without Xavi and Alexis Sanchez, who have been purposly left out of the squad, Barcelona will need to find a way to create more offensive chances than they had against Atletico mid-week.
While the Blaugrana have proven that they can score when all is going well, Valencia has struggled in that department since the departure of Roberto Soldado.
The Spanish striker made his way to White Hart Lane, leaving Los Che without a big name in their squad, with the exception of Banega, but he is not the prolific goal scorer Valencia needs.
Having won their first match against Malaga, Djukic's side followed that up with a very poor performance against Espanyol, resulting in a 3-1 defeat. Wanting to erase that from the memory of their fans, and wanting to sort things out with their manager who was clearly furious, Valencia needs a near perfect performance on Sunday.
"Barcelona are a strong opponent, if not the strongest, and we have to be prepared and in the right frame of mind to play well," Valencia midfielder Oriel Romeu told reporters. "You either have to play perfectly or you have no chance. Hopefully we'll have a perfect game."

Liverpool Vs Manchester United

On September 1st, Manchester United will travel to Anfield to face Liverpool, with the rivalry between the two most successful clubs in England always creating a much anticipated game.  This early in the season it will be a test to see how much Liverpool have improved and a big game for Manchester United t repeat to continue form and defend their champions title.  Liverpool will be trying to keep their 100% record after recording two 1-0 victories against Stoke and Aston Villa whilst  Manchester United’s new manager David Moyes will try to get his first ever win at Anfield after being unable to get a win there during his tenure at Everton.  Brendan Rodgers will also be looking to pick up his first win against Manchester United.

Team News

Both teams will be dealing with some injuries going into the game.  Liverpool look like they may be missing new signings Kolo Toure and Aly Cissoko along with Joe Allen who were all hurt in their Capital One Cup game on Tuesday.  Sebastian Coates will also be missing this game and most of the season after an ACL injury.  United will be missing Rafael who has been missing all season with a hamstring injury and will not be back until the middle of September.  United may also be missing Nani and Chicharito Hernandez who both do not have a listed return date. (All injury news from physioroom.com).
Both Liverpool and United have had to deal with big transfer sagas this summer trying to hold on to star players, Wayne Rooney and Luis Suarez.  Luis Suarez would not be playing, even if this saga didn’t happen, because of his suspension for biting Branislav Ivanovic.  Wayne Rooney was shunned a start in the season opener, coming off the bench late in the first game and but started the second against title rivals Chelsea.  Both teams seem to be almost out of the woods with both these sagas but will know that nothing will be official until they either sign new contracts or the window ends.  Liverpool had to play an entire 120 minutes on Tuesday vs Notts county in the Capital One Cup while United last played 90 minutes on Monday.  The fact that Liverpool will be on less rest could have an effect late in the game.

Arsenal vs. Fenerbahce: Date, Time, Live Stream

Arsenal look to lock up a spot in the Champions League group stage in the second leg of a play-off against Fenerbahce.
These two clubs matched up a week earlier in Turkey, with Arsenal coming away with a 3-0 victory thanks to second-half goals by Kieran Gibbs, Aaron Ramsey and OlivierGiroud. This outcome makes it incredibly difficult for Fenerbahce to win on aggregate score.
The Turkish club will have to score four goals just to win, although a similar 3-0 result would tie things up. Still, this quality group should not be counted out after last season's second-place finish in the Super Lig.
As for Arsenal, the Premier League squad simply has to avoid a meltdown and it will earn a spot in the UCL group stage for the 16th year in a row.
Arsenal proved in its opening win that it is the superior club, although that does not mean it will look to run up the score in this match.
The Gunners will be smart to take a conservative approach from the start as they look to utilize the three-goal lead. They will try to maintain possession for a long time and prevent as many scoring chances as possible from their opponent.
Fenerbahce should be able to at least get one across thanks to a solid counter-attack, although Arsenal is unlikely to ever really be in danger of losing in the overall playoff.
This match will not feature much excitement, but Arsene Wenger's squad will do enough to qualify for the group stage in Champions League.

Granada vs Real Madrid streaming live 26-08-2013

Preview: Ronaldo tasked to redeem himself at the Nuevo Los Carmenese

Real Madrid’s match against Granada comes in between two friendly encounters. Los Blancos are set to play Deportivo La Coruna to raise funds for the latter on Thursday. Meanwhile, they recently featured in the Santiago Bernabeu Trophy match where legend Raul Gonzalez was honoured on his emotional return to the stadium.
Carlo Ancelotti will hope to see a considerable improvement from his players on Monday. Despite warming up perfectly for the new competitive season, the 2013 International Champions Cup winners displayed an unconvincing performance on Matchday 1 of La Liga.
Real Betis almost got the better of Real Madrid. If it was not for Isco’s late show, Los Blancos would be in an embarrassing situation by now. It appears Ancelotti is still adjusting his formation – with the arrival of Gareth Bale looking imminent and the departure of Angel Di Maria and Karim Benzema looking possible.
Key man Cristiano Ronaldo could not find comfort in the coach’s tactics in their opening league match. As a result, goals did not flow. On Monday, Granada will be hoping to frustrate the Portuguese winger. It is at the Nuevo Los Carmenese stadium that Ronaldo scored an own goal – his first and only thus far – last season. The game finished 1-0, sinking Real Madrid’s hopes of defending their league crown with three months left till the end of the 38-match marathon.
Looking at Atletico Madrid and Barcelona’s form over the first two Matchdays, goal difference could end up being a deciding factor in the 2013/14 Spanish La Liga. Although it is very early to bet on this, the current league standings have Atletico and Barca on top with maximum points and a big goal difference. Both have scored eight goals already, putting pressure on the 2013 Copa del Rey beaten finalists to hit their groove as soon as possible.
Granada, however, may not be that cheap. Boosted by their victory away to Osasuna on the first weekend of the campaign, the hosts will try to destabilize the flow of Los Blancos’ play and cause an upset.

Manchester United FC v Chelsea FC

Jose Mourinho and David Moyes will both be hoping their side can establish themselves as early title favorites on Monday when Manchester United host Chelsea at Old Trafford.

Chelsea and United both coasted through their openers, though United's win was a bit more impressive. Swansea had them on the back foot for parts of the game, but they still managed to put four goals past a quality side. The Blues took on a less impressive team in Hull City, but never looked terribly bothered about the result. They created chances early and had no problem sealing a 2-0 win.
Both teams can probably breathe a little easier knowing that their main competition for the Premier League title isn't an invincible juggernaut. Manchester City looked like a potentially unstoppable force when they crushed Newcastle in their opener, but they followed that up with a loss to Cardiff on Sunday.
Manchester United injuries and suspensions
Out: Ashley Young (ankle), Darren Fletcher (illness), Javier Hernandez (hamstring), Nani (groin), Rafael (hamstring).
Chelsea injuries and suspensions
Out: Tomas Kalas (leg). In doubt: David Luiz (hamstring).
David Luiz has been nursing a hamstring problem since the beginning of the season and could make his first appearance of the new year against United. The Red Devils have a fairly long injury list, but also a deep squad. The continued absences of Young and Nani mean plenty of opportunities for youngster Wilfried Zaha to win a regular place in the side.
Match date/time: Monday, 3 p.m. ET, 8 p.m. local
Venue: Old Trafford, Manchester, England
TV: NBC Sports (U.S.), Sky Sports 1 (U.K.), TSN (Canada)
Online: NBC Live Extra (U.S.), Sky Go (U.K.)

La Liga: Malaga vs Barcelona Match Preview & Live Streaming

Malaga will try to avoid being the next victim in Barcelona's rampage through Spain when they welcome in the Catalans on Sunday.

Barcelona thrashed Levante7-0, in their first La Liga match of the season. They scored six before halftime. It was the kind of statement win manager Gerardo Martino needed in his first league match as manager of the club.

There have been many critics who have wondered if Martino is the man for the job and if Barcelona have done enough to improve during the summer.

FC Barcelona will be looking to become the third (or fourth, depending on the result in the evening's earlier match between Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano) side to claim six points from their opening two matches, as both Athletic Bilbao and newly-promoted Villarreal secured their second wins of the campaign earlier in the weekend. Athletic Bilbao are hoping to challenge for aUEFA Champions League qualification place under the guidance of new coach Ernesto Valverde -- and they looked impressive on Friday night at the Anoeta against a wasteful Osasuna performance. Villarreal on the other hand were simply hoping for survival, even if they have invested rather heavily (by La Liga standards) in their playing squad following promotion. But after two matches, perhaps they have designs on something more -- with a second comeback victory in two games, this time against Real Valladolid, it's safe to say that confidence will be high at El Madrigal.

Thanks to their landslide win over Levante in Jornada One, Barcelona should regain their place at the top of the table with any victory tonight -- and are expected to cruise to victory against a much-changed Malaga outfit. Even in the absence of Lionel Messi, Barcelona have talent in abundance: Neymar, Cesc Fabregas, Xavi, Andres Iniesta -- the list goes on and on; just how can Bernd Schuster compete with the Blaugrana?

Chances are that he cannot -- at least not without a tactical rethink. 10 men behind the ball with an emphasis on counter-attacks; it's probably the only way that Malaga can grab something from this match.

Considering how easily the Catalans dispatched Levante, those concerns may have been blown out of proportion. The Spanish league has become an annual battle between Barcelona and Real Madrid, and this season looks to be no different.

On the other side of the pitch, Malaga is recovering from a 1-0 loss to Valencia. It wasn't a demoralizing loss. The match did drive home the new reality for the club, though.

This is a vastly different side from the one that qualified for the Champions League in 2011-12. The money has dried up, and the best players have gone elsewhere. Manuel Pellegrini has left to manage Manchester City, making way for Bernd Schuster. On the pitch, Isco, Jeremy Toulalan and Joaquin have all been sold.

Real Madrid vs Real Betis Live Stream La Liga 2013 Online

It is about time to kick off this Liga BBVA season, right? Real Madrid will face Betis in this first official match of the season, and Ancelotti will have two very difficult choices to make for this game: the goalkeeper and the right back:
I have not made my decision about the goalkeeper yet. I will not give my lineup because I haven't spoken with the team yet and I would rather talk to them first. Arbeloa played on Wednesday and Carvajal trained here, so right now Carvajal might have the edge over Arbeloa for this game.
It would be very important for Ancelotti's project to start the season with a win, but Pepe Mel's Betis will surely be a challenge. The Andalusian team had a magnificent 2012-2013 Liga BBVA season and they will not be have enough with a defensive style. Mel's Betis like to attack and Real Madrid's defensive line will need to be ready to step up.
Pepe had some troubles after his game with Portugal, but Ancelotti confirmed that he will be available. Alonso, Varane, Illarramendi and Denis will miss the game with small injuries, but all of them will be joining the squad soon enough, according to Ancelotti's words.
Marcelo will surely be the team's left back, as Coentrao will also sit this game out after he asked for a way out of the club:
Nothing has changed about the team's departures. We still need to find an answer for Coentrao because he asked not to play this game. He wants to leave. The rest of the players are happy to be here.
Ancelotti has decided not to spend the night before the game on the hotel, breaking Mourinho's tradition. It is enough to have lunch before the game for Ancelotti, and it will be interesting to see whether this has any effect on the team's mentality in the home games.

The players look ready, and if they play well, this roster has enough to beat Betis. So let's get started!

La Liga: FC Barcelona vs Levante

FC Barcelona will be looking to kick-start their La Liga title defense with a win tomorrow, as they prepare to host Levante at the Camp Nou in Sunday’s early evening kick-off. Despite cruising to a 15-point victory in last season’s title race, the Blaugrana have not been given "prime-time billing"; but that does mean that they can put some early pressure on Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid – provided that they secure the three points against Joaquin Caparros’ men.
The good news for Barça and their new head coach Gerardo Martino is that both Lionel Messi and Cesc Fàbregas have been cleared to return to action after they picked up injuries in the latter stages of pre-season, although club captain Carles Puyol is expected to miss another month as he steps up his recovery from a lengthy knee injury.
In spite of Puyol’s injury status, Martino insisted that he is content with his squad – hinting that Barcelona will not conduct any more business in this transfer window. Naturally, the public reaction to this news has been mixed; Barça probably does need to sign a new central defender, but neither the league title nor the UEFA Champions League is won in the first-half of the season – meaning that if needs be Barça can reassess the situation in the January transfer window.
And even if Barcelona haven’t reinforced at the back, there is still every reason to feel optimistic ahead of the new season. After all, the Blaugrana have only lost a few members of last season’s La Liga winning squad – and when all is said and done, the three players who left were hardly regular starters.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at the team news ahead of tomorrow’s game:

AS Monaco vs. Montpellier HSC

France: Ligue 1
14:00 Monaco vs. Montpellier HSC @ Stade Louis II.
Hosts with an awesome match away in Bordeaux gaining a deserved win in Bordeaux. Monaco for me with PSG are the two teams which will outplay the Championship between them. PSG played last weekend in Montpellier and gained a disappointing draw in a match which they completly dominate. Monaco with some super signings in the transfer window which are to good for a mid-team from Montpellier.
Montpellier with a lucky draw last weekend against the former Champion from Paris showing nothing special defending the whole match. But PSG wasn't able to score second eve

Orlando Pirates vs. Zamalek - 17 August 2013

Orlando Pirates will welcome Egyptian giants CS Zamalek in a CAF Champions League group stage match on Saturday evening at the Orlando Stadium, kickoff @ 20H00 CAT.
The Buccaneers lead the group A with four points while their opponents lie third with only a point. A win for the home side will dent chances of five times champions Zamalek qualifying for the knock-out stages.
Orlando Pirates will have to do without the services of midfielder Thandanani Ntshumayelo and Zambian striker Collins Mbesuma, both suffered injuries in the last match against Supersport United in the MTN8 quarter-final last Sunday.
Orlando Pirates striker Lennox Bacela, who is expected to make a start up-front on Saturday, says Zamalek will be tougher than Al Ahly after Orlando Pirates beat them 3-1 away from home in their last group stage encounter.
“This is going to be a tougher match than the one against Al Ahly, we expect Zamalek to fight like wounded tigers as they are still chasing their first win in the group stages.”
CS Zamalek arrived in South Africa on Wednesday with coach Helmy Toulan travelling with the group of nineteen players that exclude attacking midfielder Ahmed Gaafar who will serve a suspension after picking up a second yellow card when his team lost 1-0 away at AC Leopards in their last encounter.
Bacela concluded, “It is important to win here at home because it will be massive challenge when we travel to Egypt for the return leg.”
In the other group A fixture we will see current CAF Champions League holders Al Ahly visit second placed AC Leopards in another must win match for the Egyptians.

Italy and Argentina meet for the first time in over a decade in a friendly on Wednesday.

Traditionally one of the biggest international rivalries, it has been 12 years since Italy and Argentina last met. That friendly saw Argentina win 2-1, and came less than a year after they'd knocked the Azzurri out of the 1990 World Cup on penalties. Italy haven't beaten the Albiceleste since the group stages of the 1982 World Cup, which they would go on to win. Wednesday sees the two nations go head-to-head once again, in a Rome friendly dedicated to Pope Francis.
For Italy, the most notable squad inclusion is that of Buenos Aires-born Pablo Osvaldo. The striker was omitted from Cesare Prandelli's Confederations Cup selection after criticizing then-Roma coach Aurelio Andreazzoli on Twitter, though has now been recalled. There are few surprises elsewhere, though U-21 stars Lorenzo Insigne, Marco Verratti and Alessandro Florenzi have all been included.
Among those named in Argentina's squad are Barcelona's Lionel Messi, as well as several players based in Italy domestically. Napoli's new striker Gonzalo Higuaín has been selected, along with his partenopei teammate Federico Fernández. Goalkeepers Sergio Romero and Mariano Andújar ply their trade at Sampdoria and Catania, while defender Hugo Campagnaro and his attacking teammates Ricky Álvarez and Rodrigo Palacio play for Inter Milan. Lucas Biglia and Erik Lamela of Lazio and Roma are also included.
Italy injuries and suspensions
Out: Andrea Barzagli In doubt: Mario Balotelli
Barzagli is definitely out with an Achilles tendon injury, while a knee problem means Balotelli is a slight doubt.
Argentina injuries and suspensions
Out: None In doubt: Lionel Messi
A muscular problem in Messi's left thigh saw him benched for Barça's match against the Malaysia XI on Saturday, meaning he's in doubt.
Match date/time: Wednesday, 8:45 p.m. local, 2:45 p.m. ET
Venue: Stadio Olimpico, Rome, Italy

Egypt Vs Uganda Match Preview | International Friendly

When: Wednesday August 14, 2013
Kick Off 5.30pm (EAT)
Where: El Gouana
Uganda Cranes will be searching for only their second win over The Pharaohs of Egypt when the two nations meet in an international friendly game at El Gouana on Wednesday.
Cranes’ last and only win over Pharaohs came way back in 1963 in the 1965 All Africa Games qualifiers when late Ali Kitonsa’s hat trick gave Uganda a 4-1 win.
Uganda and Egypt will be using the friendly game to fine tune their squads ahead of the final group games of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
Uganda will face Senegal in a must win tie in group J while Egypt tussle it out against Guinea in a dead rubber as the Pharaohs are already through to the final round having attained an unassailable lead in group G.
EGYPT TEAM NEWS:
Egypt Coach Bob Bradley will  (minor knock on kidney) plus most of his key players from Al Ahly and Zamalek who have been excused from the game as their clubs have tough engagements in CAF competitions over the weekend.
Nevertheless, Ahly's goalie Mossad Awad, who is ineligible to play in Africa, and suspended midfielders Hossam Ashour, Ahmed Fathi and Zamalek's defender Mahmoud Fathallah are available for selection.
Elmohamady’s slot has been filled by ENPPI midfielder Ahmed Rifaat; a late inclusion by Coach Bradley.
MAN TO WATCH:
Mohamed Salah: He is only 21 but the FC Basel striker is proving to be the man destined to replace the legendary Hossam Hassan. In just 22 appearances, Salah has netted 15 goals. In the absence of Muhammad Aboutreka, Salah is expected to be the main man for Pharaohs.
EGYPT SQUAD:
Goalkeepers: Mohamed Sobhy (Ismaily) and Mosaad Awad (Ahly)
Defenders: Ahmed Fathi (Ahly), Mahmoud Fathallah (Zamalek), Ahmed Samir (Dakhlya), Adam El-Abd (Brighton, England), Ahmed Sobhi(ENPPI), Ahmed Samir Farag (Lierse, Belgium) and Ahmed Hegazy (Fiorentina, Italy)
Midfielders: Hossam Ashour (Ahly), Amr Soulaya (Ismaily), Hossam Ghaly (Lierse, Belgium), Ahmed Hamoudy (Smouha), Mohamed El-Nenny (Basel FC, Switzerland), Ahmed Rifaat (Enppi)
Strikers: Mohamed Salah (Basel FC, Switzerland) and Ahmed Hassan 'Koka' (Rio Ave, Portugal), Ahmed Temsah (Al-Dhofar, Oman)
UGANDA CRANES TEAM NEWS:
Europe based midfielders Martin Kayongo Mutumba and Tony Mawejje joined the rest of the squad on Monday evening while skipper Andrew Mwesigwa is expected to link up with the team later on Tuesday with reports he is already in Cairo.
US based defender Henry Kalungi is yet to join the team and reports from El Gouana where the team is camped are yet to receive any communication from him.
Simba SC goalie Abbey Dhaira failed to link up with the team with no reason advanced despite being named on the traveling squad. Bidvest Wits goalie Denis Onyango who is yet to feature under Micho is expected to get some playing time.
With six substitutions agreed on for this game, at least all but one or two players won’t have a run in.
MAN TO WATCH:
Martin Mutumba Kayongo: All eyes will be on the AIK man who put up  last week. Mutumba is steadily getting his groove back following his poor show against Senegal in what was only his second appearance for Cranes. He is expected to be the main man upon which Cranes rely for creativity.
